BAD BOYS of Romance Giveaway Hop 27

946626_645208502175158_872620078_nSo what are “bad boys” anyway? I’ll bet you never needed it defined for you. I think women come with a vague sense of what it means.

The social scientists have a name for the phenomenon. It’s called The Dark Tryad. Seems that heterosexual women are predisposed to the attraction – not all, but a lot.

Here is the triple threat that typically defines a fantasy/romance version of bad boy.

1. He’s a love ‘em and leave ‘em player with magnetic good looks and fever-hot sensuality.

2. Hes’ a problem-with-authority rebel who may express that defiance in style choices that are antiestablishment, but nonetheless cool.

3. He’s often emotionally damaged, tragically misunderstood, but vulnerable to the one woman who will heal his wounds, polish his rough places, and turn him into a true blue whipster.

So far the men of the Black Swan saga have touched on bad boy without being fully baptized. However, members of Z Team, introduced in Book 4, Moonlight, are definitely going to go there.

Feel free to tell us about some of your favs even if they aren’t my characters. Some of the ones I love (by other authors) are Barrons from Fever Series and Kellan from Thoughtless trilogy.

  3. Some of my faves, well I would say all of the Lords of the Underworld they are so deliciously bad :).

  4. I love the bad boys, whether they be shifters, aliens, doms, or cowboys. And since I only read romances with a happily ever after, they keep me coming back for more. We know that underneath that bad boy exterior lies a hero who is strong, sexy, loyal, confident, and protective of their woman even when they KNOW she can kick some major ass.

Some of my favorite bad boys are from the BDB series: Zsadist, Butch, Wrath, and Vishous. Also from the Dragon Kin Series: Fearghus, (the destroyer),Briec, (the arrogant), Ailean (the wicked) and Gwenvael (the Handsome)

Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win.

  5. I just cannot seem to narrow my choice down to any single version of a bad boy. I like paranormal men best. All men with extra abilities make my little heart go pitty-patter much faster than usual. I would like to be able to choose from some specific series even, but I review books, and when I find a bad boy I like in a book, I latch on like a barnacle to the bottom of a ship…until the next literary bad boy comes along, then I drop that first dude right out of my mind as if he never existed. I’m just not faithful, I’m sorry to say. I must be faithful in reality, but not in my fantasies. Of course, in some of those where I get TWO mates, well, maybe I could be forced to reconsider if I ever paused to read two books of the same series STRAIGHT in a row…

Thanks for the hop and the goodies. I appreciate the fun and the chance to participate.

  6. I have too many faves to list just one — the short list? Roarke from J.D. Robb’s In Death series, Curran from Ilona Andrews’ Kate Daniels series, Death from Kalayna Price’s Alex Craft series, Dante Baptiste from Adrian Phoenix’s The Maker’s Song series and Terrible from Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series.

    Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

  7. No one really knows my bad boys. I’m a geek and I love anime. I love the anti-hero, and so far, I’ve not found better examples than Lelouch from Code Geass and Light Yagami from Death Note. They are bad boys you really, really wish you could side with, but at the same time, you know their methods are completely wrong.

Anyway, thanks so much for the giveaway :)

  8. Mmmm… bad boys. Excuse me while I salivate. To pick just one bad boy is so very hard, but I will try! I enjoy Christian Grey (who wouldn’t? Am I right, ladies?). His compulsive need to control is scary and hot all at the same time. Another bad boy who has me slobbering all over myself is Travis from “Beautiful Disaster!” A man who makes a living by punching the shit out of another man!?!?! Hold me back! Thanks for the giveaway! It’s always a pleasure for me to participate in these, especially when the topic is so utterly delicious.

  9. Acheron from the Dark Hunter series is my #1 fave. There are just so many to choose from, and your boys are definitely awesome.

  10. #4 When the bad boy meets the right woman he changes his womanizing ways. Max Savoie from Nancy Gideon’s series is one of my favorites. Tortured shifter hero.

    • Yes. In FANTASY. Just so long as everybody understands that this is fantasy and that bad boys do not change their stripes in real life. EVER! Just the messenger here. Don’t shoot me.

  11. I have just been recommended to read your books and hope to start the first one tonight. For bad boys. I am thinking more of in movies I’ve seen and the first two to come to mind are Jason Bourne and Tony Stark. Bad ass fighters, survivors, antagonizers and lovers.

By the way, that pic is scrumptious!!

  12. Love the photo! YUM! I have soo many favs. Vishous from the BDB is one of my tops though. :) Thanks!
